Afcon Industrial Equipment is participating in A-Gas refrigerant partners scheme to improve the collection and responsible recovery of disposable cylinders.
A-Gas will supply Afcon Industrial Equipment with a dedicated drop-off crate and 2-ton collection bags positioned at our branch in a visible and accessible location for contractors. Contractors can dispose of their empty cylinders directly into the crate. Once full, Afcon Industrial Equipment will notify A-Gas for collection with their logistics partner, Reclite.
Reclite is a specialist waste management and recycling company focused on electronic and industrial waste streams. Within this programme, they support A-Gas by collecting and transporting filled disposal bags and ensuring cylinders are safely processed, with residual refrigerant (“heel”) recovered and materials directed into appropriate recycling streams.
On average, an estimated 340,000–360,000 disposable cylinders are imported into the South African market annually, each containing approximately 200–400g of residual refrigerant. Without recovery, this represents a significant avoidable emissions source. This initiative helps close that gap by enabling simple, on-site collection and structured recovery through the A-Gas system.
This programme strengthens existing collaboration by improving accessibility for contractors and increasing recovery volumes through an easy, compliant drop-off solution.
